HC Deb 27 November 1978 vol 959 c48W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the total funds made available from central Government sources, and spent, respectively, for each year since 1970 for the undertaking of the provisions of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970.

Mr. Alfred Morris:

A very wide range of assistance to disabled people is provided under the Act. Most expenditure under the Act is incurred by local authorities, and is included in relevant expenditure for purposes of the rate support grant, which is payable by my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for the Environment. It is not assigned to particular services. The only expenditure which is separately identifiable is shown in the table set out below. The figures, based on returns made by local authorities, are of net expenditure in England at out-turn prices and exclude the cost of administration. Comparable figures are not available for years prior to 1972–73.
