§ Mr. Michael Lathamasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress is being made in fixing the proposed salaries of United Kingdom members of the proposed 117W European Assembly, following direct elections in 1979.
§ Mr. JuddInformal discussions are being held both between the Assembly and the President of the Council and within the Council itself. No decision has yet been reached. We have made clear our concern that the level of salaries should not be excessive but should be based on those of national parliamentarians.
