HC Deb 13 April 1978 vol 947 c537W
Mr. Roper

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what formal arrangements exist to facilitate co-operation between the United Kingdom and Australia on defence research and development.

Mr. Mulley

There is a long history of fruitful co-operation between the United Kingdom and Australia in the field of defence research and development, which has resulted in a number of successful collaborative projects. In order to formalise arrangements for identifying future opportunities for co-operation and collaborative ventures, a Memorandum of Understanding has recently been signed between the United Kingdom and Australia on co-operation between the two countries in defence science and technology. On the basis of this Memorandum of Understanding detailed arrangements will be made as appropriate for specific joint research projects, exchanges of in-information, and exchange visits of specialists.
