HC Deb 10 March 1977 vol 927 cc641-2W
Mr. Peter Rees

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many special offices have now been opened by the Inland Revenue; in what centres; with what staff; and at what cost.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

The present position is as envisaged in my reply of 11th May last to a similar Question by the hon. Member—[Vol. 911, c.128.] There are three special offices, in Edinburgh.

for the EEC countries, the United States of America and Japan.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

The following table shows the marginal percentage rate of combined income tax and social security contributions on the employment income of a married man with two children under 11 at the multiples specified of United Kingdom average earnings:

London and Manchester, with a total of 51 staff. As I explained previously, most of the staff have been provided by the redeployment of existing staff. The total additional staffing cost is about £30,000 a year.
