HL Deb 27 July 1977 vol 386 cc1113-4WA
The Earl of KIMBERLEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in view of Recommendation 49 of the Post Office Review Committee's report, they will direct the Post Office forthwith to reconsider its refusal to reinstitute Sunday collections.

Lord WINTERBOTTOM

The Government do not consider that it would be appropriate to issue such a direction. As far as the report of the Post Office Review Committee is concerned, the Secretary of State for Industry has asked that any comments should reach him by 1st December. He has announced that in the light of these comments the Government propose to publish a White Paper with their views on the report.
