How many people have been refused naturalisation in each of the years 1970 to 1976 inclusive, and on what grounds; and what was the cost in each of those years of processing the applications, including the cost of inquiries made as to the character of the applicants.

The information is given below for lamb and potatoes and for some other representative items of food for the year to mid-June 1977. The changes in real terms have been obtained by relating the percentage change in the retail price of each food to the increase of 17.7 per cent. over the year in the index of retail prices for all items:
