HC Deb 13 July 1977 vol 935 c195W
Rev. Ian Paisley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) what representations he has received from solicitors representing prisoners from the Protestant community concerning the conditions imposed on remand prisoners in the Crumlin Road Prison; and what reply he has given;

(2) what consultations he or his officials have had with solicitors representing prisoners from the Protestant community in order to ease tension in the Crumlin Road Prison.

Mr. Concannon

One letter has been received from a solicitor who said that he was representing Protestant prisoners, and the Government's policy was explained to him in the reply. No consultations have been held by the Northern Ireland Office with any solicitors about the arrangements in the remand wings of Belfast prison.
