Mr. Hannam

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what are the details and numbers of approved surveys of disabled and chronically sick persons carried out since 18th June 1976 under the job creation programme.

Mr. Golding,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 8th February 1977; Vol. 925, c. 651], gave the following information:

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that since 18th June 1976 the following projects have been approved under the job creation programme involving surveys of disabled and chronically sick persons.

Surveys in connection with the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970:

Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council 6
Dumfries and Galloway Regional Council 30
Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council 3
Strathclyde Regional Council 10

Other surveys of the needs of the chronically sick and disabled:

Mid-Glamorgan County Council 2
Central Regional Council 15
Edinburgh Council for the Disabled 10
Sheffield Metropolitan Borough Council 2
Wirrai Association for the Disabled 6

In addition, 32 projects were approved, which included elderly people and disadvantaged people in addition to the disabled and chronically sick.
