HC Deb 15 February 1977 vol 926 c146W
2. Mr. Cormack

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps she intends to take to give parents more freedom of choice and more direct say on the managing and governing bodies of schools.

Miss Margaret Jackson

My right hon. Friend is examining what steps might be taken to improve the arrangements whereby school places are allocated and to ensure that parents' views can be properly considered; she will be consulting all the interests concerned in due course. As regards the management and government of schools, my right hon. Friend is looking forward to the recommendations of the Taylor Committee.
