HL Deb 13 October 1976 vol 375 cc448-9WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

(1) whether they will seek to include in the National Dwelling and Housing Survey, now being planned, questions on the thermal insulation of lofts and hot water tanks, and on the adequacy of room heating appliances;

(2) what is the estimated cost of the National Dwelling and Housing Survey now being planned and what would be the estimated costs of any additional questions.

Baroness BIRK

Questions on the thermal insulation of lofts and hot water tanks, and on room heating appliances, will be included at a later stage of the English House Condition Survey covering some 9,000 dwellings, which is now taking place. The possibility of having a large-scale housing survey in 1977 to meet major information needs of the Department and local authorities is being considered, particularly in the context of the Housing Policy Review and work for the Consultative Council on Local Government Finance. No final decisions have been taken and estimates of costs of the many alternatives would be hypothetical.
