To give details of all gross annual payments from the United Kingdom Treasury to Northern Ireland in the same form as they gave in reply to previous questions of 18th November 1970, (col. 1236), 18th January 1972, (col. 56) and 21st December 1972 (col. 1265.).

In the financial year 1975–76 expenditure from the Northern Ireland Consolidated Fund was £1,084 million. In addition to £171 million raised by rate and from other sources within Northern Ireland, £560 million was met by a payment to the Northern Ireland Consolidated Fund in respect of taxes properly attributable to Northern Ireland but collected by United Kingdom revenue departments. The amount of the grant-in-aid paid by the Secretary of State to the Northern Ireland Consolidated Fund under the Northern Ireland Consolidated Act 1973 amounted to £351 million. £2 million was also paid by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food by way of Agricultural Remoteness Grant.

In addition, expenditure by the Northern Ireland Office on law and order and compensation came to £147 million in 1975–6. Grant and subsidy payments received by Northern Ireland farmers from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food amounted to £24 million and payments from the Intervention Board for Agricultural Produce amounted to £18 million. The amount transferred from the Great Britain National Insurance Fund to the Northern Ireland National Insurance Fund was £38 million. The amount borrowed by the Northern Ireland Consolidated Fund for capital purposes from the National Loans Fund was £120 million gross (£117 million net).
