HL Deb 28 July 1976 vol 373 cc1455-6WA
Lord KENNET

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What consultations they are having with other North Sea States concerning pipelines, and particularly the proposed pipeline to gather gas from the smaller gasfields, in whatever national sector they may lie.

The MINISTER of STATE, Scottish Office (Lord Kirkhill)

When the Williams-Merz Report on gas gathering systems was published, the Government invited comments from all interested parties by the end of July. A precis of the Report has been circulated within the European Community and to Norway.

My officials also liaise with Norwegian officials about the pipeline which lands oil from the Norwegian Ekofisk area at Tees-side and about the pipelines, now being laid, that will land gas from the British-Norwegian Frigg gas field at St. Fergus. There are also informal discussions on submarine pipeline technology between officials of the Department of Energy and those of other North Sea States.
