HL Deb 28 July 1976 vol 373 cc1458-9WA
Lord TAYLOR

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the number of group practices in England and Wales which have received loans from the General Practice Finance Corporation since its inception, the total amount loaned and the total amount repaid.

Lord WELLS-PESTELL

The General Practice Finance Corporation at its inception in 1966 made 85 loans on applications originally made to the Group Practice Loan Fund. These loans totalled £672,000. Under its own scheme the General Practice Finance Corporation does not distinguish loans to groups as such but it has made 764 loans to practices of three or more doctors totaling £5,966,000 at 31st March 1975. The cost of ascertaining the capital element of repayments would be disproportionate. The Annual Report of the GPFC with audited accounts to 31st March 1976 will be laid before both Houses shortly.
