HC Deb 12 November 1975 vol 899 c760W
Mr. Channon

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why he has not complied with his assurance, given on Thursday 7th August to the hon. Member for Southend, West, that he proposed to announce in September his decision about the final recommendations submitted to him by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England about electoral arrangements for South-end-on-Sea; if he is aware that the failure to announce this decision is now causing inconvenience; and if he is now in a position to make a decision.

Dr. Summerskill

An order implementing the Commission's proposals for Southend-on-Sea was made on 18th October. Printed copies of the order will be distributed this week. I regret that it took longer to make this order than had been expected.
