Member is referring to the amount of supplementary benefit paid in January 283W and February 1974 for the requirements of strikers' families during the mine workers' dispute—which began on 10th February—the total was approximately £2.2 million. The comparable figure for all trade disputes occurring in January and February 1973 was £110,000.
