§ Mr. Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many telephone installations, home aids and dwelling adaptations, respectively, have been provided under Section 45 of the Health Services and Public Health Act 1968 and Section 2 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 by the Cheshire County Council; and what is each as a percentage of the total population of the county.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisThe following figures relate to the year ending 31st March 1973, the most recent period for which information is available:
for the higher or the lower rate. From June 1971 to November 1972, when awards were made at the higher rate only, 15,500 people in the Yorkshire and Humberside Region claimed the allowance; 8,100 were initially successful and 7,400 were initially rejected. Of those so rejected, 1,000 were successful on review. Separate figures relating to claims rejected on review are not available by regions. From November 1972 the lower rate has become available in three stages by age groups and since then 10,900 people have claimed the allowance of whom 4,100 were initially awarded the higher rate, 3,200 the lower rate and 3,600 were initially rejected. Of those so rejected, 300 were awarded the higher rate on review and 250 the lower rate.
