HC Deb 25 October 1973 vol 861 c622W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many claimants are getting a 40p or 92p diet allowance on top of their weekly benefit; and how many claimants are paid in excess of the 92p allowance for diet.

Mr. Dean

The number of claimants for whom special expenses for diet were taken into account, as at November 1972, were:

40p 177,000
92p 149,000

The number of cases where the expenses exceeded 92p is not known.
