§ Mr. David Steelasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will seek to amend present satutory provisions to enable persons leaving school to do so on their sixteenth birthdays rather than being retained until the subsequent official leaving date.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellI do not propose to do this at the present time. There are arguments for and against the idea and I have decided that the matter should be reviewed in a year or so in the light of experience of the recent raising of the school leaving age.
