HC Deb 31 January 1973 vol 849 c378W
25. Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representation he has had from existing local authorities in relation to proposed names of local government areas as stated in the bill now before Parliament.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

I have received representations from seven local authorities about five of the names proposed in the Bill. Where appropriate, the question has been pursued with the joint advisory committee of existing local authorities in the area concerned, and I am proposing an amendment to change the name Esk Valley to Midlothian.

The names were suggested by the local authorities concerned, including all of the five on which there have been representations.
