§ 29. Mr. Loveridgeasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make representations to the Turkish Government about the rights of United Kingdom citizens, whose property in Turkey is placed under a moratorium against their property investments when they had previously held Syrian nationality, even though they were United Kingdom citizens at the time of inheriting the property.
§ Mr. KershawI am aware of only one case of the kind the hon. Member apparently has in mind—that of Mrs. Kidd. It is not clear whether Mrs. Kidd, on taking local legal advice, has exhausted all the remedies open to her under the law of Turkey. If she has, I will give the case further consideration, but I can give no undertaking that it will be possible for Her Majesty's Government to make representations.
