HL Deb 18 April 1973 vol 341 cc1206-7WA
LORD MERRIVALE

asked Her Majesty's Government following the Marquess of Lothian's statement to the House on June 17, 1971, that "the whole matter (extension of the runway in Gibraltar), has very recently been raised again by the Gibraltar authorities and is under examination"; (a) whether that included a feasibility study and cost/ benefit analysis; and (b) whether any conclusions have been drawn.

BARONESS TWEEDSMUIR or BELHELVIE

After the noble Lord raised the matter on June 17, 1971, there was an inter-departmental examination of the factors involved. The matter has also been discussed with representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority and British European Airways. Sufficient data have been accumulated to afford the basis of a feasibility study and cost/benefit analysis should one be required.
