Mr. Adley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the total input of public funds, including written-off long-and short-term indebtedness, for the last 10 years, in the following industries: coal, steel, railways, the British Overseas Airways Corporation and British European Airways, and the civil aerospace manufacturing industry, respectively.

* £200 million public dividend capital of the British Steel Corporation has been written off; a further write-off of £150 million of long-term loans has been authorised but thas not yet taken place.

Payments of £599 million were made to assist the civil aerospace manufacturing industry in the years 1962–63 to 1971–72.
