§ Mr. Donald Stewartasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations have been made by his Department in 332W discussions on the conservation of herring fisheries.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellMy Department participated in the recent meeting of the North-East Atlantic Fisheries Commission at which agreement was reached on close seasons for herring in 1972 and 1973. Representations have been made to the Department by our own fishermen for restrictions in the Minch and elsewhere, and though the scientific evidence does not at present justify additional measures the situation is being kept under review.
