§ Mr. Dudley SmithWhile my right hon. Friend is aware of and shares the considerable concern in Scotland over the unacceptably high level of unemployment there, he has not received any representations specifically about the January figures. My right hon. Friend has made it clear that the Government's chief aim is to bring down unemployment both in Scotland and in other parts of Great Britain. We have introduced extensive measures to encourage industrial expansion and will not hesitate to take such further measures as may be required.
