§ Mr. Gordon CampbellI am satisfied that local authorities in Scotland, in the exercise of their general duty to promote social welfare under the Social Work (Scotland) Act, 1968, are well aware of the need to contact and offer services to disabled persons, and I am concerned to ensure that these services should be developed as fast as resources allow. On 12th October my Department issued a circular asking local authorities to give particular attention to contacting and offering social work services to severely disabled persons living alone. A further circular giving detailed guidance about the services required for the disabled will be issued shortly.
