§ Mrs. ThatcherAll 163 local education authorities in England and Wales have responsibilities under the Act. Other bodies concerned include universities and many religious and charitable bodies which maintain schools and colleges; the number of these is not centrally recorded; and could not be ascertained without undue expenditure.
