§ Mr. Goldingasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will state what progress has been made towards the implementation of Section 16 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act, 1970, which is concerned with the duties of the National Advisory Council established under Section 17(1)(a) of the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act, 1944.
§ Mr. Dudley SmithUnder Section 17(1)(a) of that Act, a National Advisory Council was set up with the duty of advising and assisting the Secretary of State in matters relating to the employment and training of disabled people. From its inception, the National Advisory Council has always construed its duty as including the giving of advice about the training of persons concerned with the placing and training of disabled workers, as spelt out in Section 16 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act, 1970.
