HC Deb 03 March 1970 vol 797 c100W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Minister of Technology how many requests for industrial development certificates he has received from Hull in the current financial year since before and after the proposed designation of Hull as an intermediate area; how many are from locally-based firms; and how many new jobs were made available by locally-based firms and others.

Mr. Carmichael

In the Hull Employment Exchange area, 11 industrial development certificates have been issued in the period 1st April to 25th June, 1969. These schemes, when complete and fully manned, were estimated to give rise to an additional employment of 224. One of these certificates was issued to a firm new to the area. In the period 26th June, 1969, to the present date, 25 industrial development certificates have been issued which were estimated by the applicants to give rise to an additional 478 jobs. None was to a firm new to the area.
