HC Deb 24 February 1970 vol 796 c289W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is the total amount paid from Government sources to Bootle County Borough each year from 1963–64; and what is his estimate for the year 1970–71.

Mr. Denis Howell

The information for the years from 1963–64 to 1968–69 is as follows:

£
1963–64 2,292,153
1964–65 2,504,710
1965–66 2,854,194
1966–67 3,127,887
1967–68 3,175,473
1968–69 3,102,398

The amounts for the years 1967–68 and 1968–69 are not entirely comparable with those for earlier years because the police grant, which amounted to £148,334 in 1966–67, was not paid to the county borough council from 1st April, 1967, when responsibility for the service was transferred to the Liverpool and Bootle Police Authority.

For 1969–70 and 1970–71 the latest estimates of rate support grant amount to £2,925,048 and £3,157,497 respectively, compared with £2,673,473 for 1968–69. Corresponding estimates for the remaining grants are not yet available.
