HC Deb 23 February 1970 vol 796 cc255-6W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will obtain from the General Officer Commanding, Northern Ireland, a plan of the march which the Ulster B Specials propose to undertake on 22nd March to celebrate their dissolution; whether they will go along Bombay Street and past Unity Flats; whether he will publish the proposed line of route in the OFFICIAL REPORT; and whether he will instruct the General Officer Commanding to forbid the B Specials to take part in this march, in view of the fact that it contravenes the Public Order Amendment Act (Northern Ireland), 1970.

Mr. Hattersley

Proposals for a ceremony to mark the disbandment of the Ulster Special Constabulary are a matter for the Northern Ireland Government. However, I understand that the arrangements for this ceremony do not involve a march.
