Mr. David Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will give the total cost in the current year of the Radio and Space Research Station and the number of qualified scientists and engineers and other staff currently employed there; and if he will list the five most expensive projects on which the establishment is engaged, with the cost of each.

The estimated expenditure in 1968–69 by the Radio and Space Research Station is £1,120,000. The station has 275 staff, of whom 95 are qualified scientists and engineers. The five most expensive projects, with their estimated cost in 1968–69, are:
