HC Deb 21 March 1969 vol 780 cc172-3W
Mr. Ridley

asked the Minister of Power in view of the fact that the planning document, The Task Ahead, predicts that the growth of electricity demand will be 6 per cent., to what extent investment in electricity capacity will be cut.

Mr. Mason

Over the coming months I shall be examining the capital development programmes of the electricity boards against the Electricity Council's latest forecasts of demand and other relevant considerations. As stated in "The Task Ahead", investment in new generating capacity in the period to 1972 will be below the level of recent years as a result of the slower rate of growth of electricity demand forecast.
