HC Deb 20 March 1969 vol 780 cc151-2W
Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects to commence the building of the general hospital and maternity wing in Rutherglen.

Mr. Ross

The maternity unit is part of the present programme of schemes due to start by 1972; the general hospital is one of the schemes being considered by the Western Regional Hospital Board for inclusion in the programme of schemes to and learned Member about the period 1st January to 8th March, 1965, as soon as the necessary information has been extracted.

start in the period after 1972, but is not in the board's highest priority category for that period. I am at present in consultation with the board about starting dates for schemes in the current programme including the maternity unit, and I am also considering with regional hospital boards the longer-term programme.
