HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 c574W
Mr. Lubbock

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services for how many months the isolation unit at Farnborough Hospital has been unoccupied since its completion; whether any patients are now accommodated in the building; and what plans the Hospital Management Committee have for moving chest patients into the building and for utilising the wards thereby vacated.

Mr. Crossman

Thirteen months. Plans for the temporary use of this unit for other purposes are under consideration.

Mr. Lubbock

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will investigate the circumstances in which copies of the Annual Report of the Bromley Group Hospital Management Committee have been circulated to the newspapers, containing a statement that Bickley Ward, Farnborough Hospital, is filling a valuable function as a chest unit, when in fact it is still unoccupied; and on what date the move is now expected to take place.

Mr. Crossman

Bickley Ward is in use for chest cases and also for skin and physical medicine cases; no decision has yet been taken on its possible transfer.
