How many out of the 61 people recently charged with offences under Section 7 of the Race Relations Act 1965 were found guilty, and what were the penalties imposed.

Seventeen of the persons referred to have been convicted of offences under Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1936 (as amended by Section 7 of the Race Relations Act 1965). Twelve of these were fined varying amounts from £2 to £50, and 5 were bound over to keep the peace. In a further 27 cases the court proceedings are not yet completed.
