HC Deb 09 November 1967 vol 753 cc148-9W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what progress has been made with regard to purchase of land and the erection of buildings for the proposed Welsh College of Agriculture at Aberystwyth.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

I understand that the Cardiganshire Education Authority who have agreed to act as agents for the Welsh Joint Education Committee in establishing the proposed College, are in negotiation for an area of about 40 acres near Aberystwyth which would provide a site for a building and a demonstration farm. The Cardiganshire Authority have applied to the Department for an allocation in a further education building programme to enable them to make a start with the building; but I am not yet in a position to make a firm commitment about an allocation.
