HC Deb 09 November 1967 vol 753 c150W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what percentage of men and women university students has failed to complete degree courses undertaken during each of the last seven available years.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The latest available information is in Appendix 2A of the Robbins Report on Higher Education and relates to those who fail to complete their course for any reason. Of undergraduates entering in 1957, 13.8 per cent. left without success; the figures do not distinguish between men and women.

The University Grants Committee have recently undertaken a further survey, the results of which are expected to be available in the spring.
