HC Deb 09 February 1967 vol 740 c348W
Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what facilities exist in England and Wales for the provision of special treatment of educationally subnormal children with severe speech defects.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The services of speech therapists, employed by local education authorities either in clinics or schools, contribute to the special help which these children require. A circular has been sent recently to colleges of education asking them to draw students' attention to the benefits of speech therapy for children with speech defects.
