Mr. Lubbock

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that some persons are not claiming repayment of Post-War Credits because they are under the mistaken impression that these credits continue to attract interest after the statutory redemption date; and what steps he will take to give additional publicity to the rules concerning payment of interest.

Mr. Harold Lever:

The explanatory leaflet about repayment of Post-War Credits states that interest accrues only up to the time when the Credit becomes repayable. I am grateful to the hon. Member for giving me the opportunity of reaffirming the position publicly.
