HC Deb 14 April 1967 vol 744 cc252-3W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will make a statement on the question of early specialisation in schools.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

This is an important part of the general question of curriculum and examinations and is under close and constant study in the educational world, in particular by the Schools Council. It is not practicable to make a useful statement within the necessarily brief reply to a Parliamentary Question, but the trend generally in secondary schools is away from early specialisation.
