49. Mr. Shinwell

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many casualties have occurred to United Kingdom forces in Aden since October, 1964, giving the numbers of killed and wounded, respectively.

The figures for Aden State up to 10th April are 14 killed and 435 wounded.

Rear-Admiral Morgan Giles

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many troops in Aden are currently employed solely on internal security duties.

Mr. Healey

Some 3,600 personnel of all three Services are currently engaged in internal security duties. In addition, there is a heavy burden of extra guards and picquets which all units, including administrative elements, share.
