HL Deb 15 November 1966 vol 277 cc1257-8WA
BARONESS WOOTTON OF ABINGER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Which members of the Royal Commission on Local Government are giving full-time service to the Commission, and what remuneration is paid to members of this Commission.

LORD KENNET

Appointments to the two Royal Commissions on Local Government were made on the assumption that individual members would devote whatever time the work of the Commissions required. All those appointed to Royal Commissions are entitled to subsistence and travel allowances. Where, exceptionally, service on a Royal Commission prevents an individual from following his normal occupation it is the Government's view that a payment should be made to take account of this, and three members of the Royal Commission on Local Government in England are in this position.

House adjourned at eleven minutes before seven o'clock.
