§ Mr. Archerasked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs when he intends to review the membership of the economic planning councils and, in particular, that of the West Midlands.
§ Mr. M. StewartWhen councils were first established, members were appointed for three years. During this period vacancies may arise or there may in some cases be a need to make additional appointments and I intend to review membership annually. I have reviewed the existing membership of the West Midlands Council and have made the following appointments up to the end of the present three year period:
- Mr. J. B. Cullingworth, Director, Centre for Urban and Regional Studies, Faculty of Commerce and Social Science, Birmingham University.
- Councillor G. E. Hill, Member, Solihull County Borough.
- Mr. W. N. P. Jones, Clerk of the Shropshire County Council.
- Mr. J. C. Mason, District Secretary, General and Municipal Workers Union
- Mr. J. H. W. Melvin, District Organisation Officer, National Association of Local Government Officers.
