§ Mr. Lubbockasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he intends to make the electoral areas for the purpose of election of Greater London Council councillors coincide with the Parliamentary constituencies resulting from the present recommendations of the Boundary Commission.
§ Mr. George ThomasWhen the Parliamentary constituencies in the Greater London area resulting from the present general review have been finally determined, it will be my right hon. and learned Friend's duty to review the electoral areas for elections to the Greater London Council accordingly. In doing this, he will be required by paragraph 7(1,b) of Schedule 2 to the London Government Act 1963 to ensure that, where a London borough contains complete Parliamentary constituencies, each constituency shall be an electoral area. Where this is not the case, my right hon. and learned Friend will be required to divide the boroughs affected into electoral areas following the criteria laid down in paragraph 7(1)(c) of the Schedule.
