HC Deb 20 November 1963 vol 684 cc96-7W
Mr. Lubbock

asked the Minister of Transport whether he proposes to delay action to solve the problem of suburban rail services until further attention has been given to the whole problem of transport in conurbations.

Mr. Marples

We are already tackling the problem of transport as a whole in die conurbations with the local authorities concerned. But this is no reason to defer action on changes in the pattern of suburban railway services which are clearly justified on their merits. In the case of passenger closures, I take into account all relevant factors, including the effect which the closure might have on the transport system of the area.
