HC Deb 22 March 1963 vol 674 cc104-5W
Mr. Lubbock

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how much of the £25 million made available to housing associations under the Housing Act, 1961, has been allocated so far; what representations he has received from the National Federation of Housing Associations about the legal difficulties which prevent housing associations from increasing their efforts; and what reply he has made.

Sir K. Joseph

I have approved schemes for which the ultimate Exchequer commitment will be about £2,500,000. Other schemes are under consideration. My Department and the Federation are in close touch on the many questions—some of a legal character—that inevitably arise on an experimental scheme of this nature. These have not occasioned representations of the kind the hon. Member seems to have in mind.
