§ Mr. ProfumoI understand that the circumstances in which this photograph was taken were not entirely as reported. It is true that the Commandant of the Guards Depot gave permission for a photograph to be taken of Guardsman Clark: he did this in view of the considerable public interest in an incident in which Guardsman Clark was involved. The photograph was therefore specially taken in the presence of his company commander. There was no question of an interview taking place at the time between Major Thwaites and Guardsman Clark.
