§ Mr. WhitelawOn 8th April, 1963, the number of registered unemployed was 2,984 compared with 1,837 on 10th April, 1961, and 2,103 on 9th April, 1962. These figures relate to Durham, Haswell, Houghton-le-Spring and Spennymoor Employment Exchanges and associated youth employment offices whose areas are wholly or partly within the Durham constituency.
