§ 51. Mr. Awberyasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will now make a statement on the development of the naval base at Malta since the Government took over from Messrs 12W Bailey; if he will state the number of men employed today; and what further developments are contemplated.
§ Mr. SandysApproximately 5,000 men are at present on the payroll of Messrs. Bailey (Malta) Ltd. It is expected that Managing Agents wilt be appointed shortly. They will be responsible to the Council of Administration for conducting the business of the Dockyard and the work of converting it.
