Dr. Bennettasked the Minister of Transport whether he will grant a subsidy or other form of finance from Government funds for the provision of a dry-dock at Southampton similar to that granted for Belfast, in view of unemployment in the ship-repairing industry in Southampton.
§ Mr. MarplesI am afraid I do not see my way to doing this. The existing facilities at Southampton are not at present fully utilised. The Government have not in fact granted a subsidy for building a dry dock at Belfast.
